Description:

A wonderful and very popular swap has been posted for a winter scarf knit kit, but for those of us who don't knit or who also crochet, I thought I would try posting a winter CROCHET kit.

Participants in this swap will exchange a Winter Crochet Kit containing:

  1. Hot drink mix (at least 2 servings)- Coffee, cocoa, tea, hot cider mix, etc.
  2. A mug
  3. An edible treat
  4. A crochet pattern for a scarf, hat, mittens, gloves, slippers or socks
  5. Crochet hook to use for the project
  6. Enough yarn to complete the crochet pattern

Minimum kit value is $15

You can give your kit a theme if you like! Just as in the Knit Kit swap, the main idea here is to get creative, and have fun! The goal is to give your partner a warm fuzzy evening of crocheting, and a crocheted item to enjoy afterwards!! Remember, the kit is for ONE of these items: a scarf, a hat, a pair of mittens or gloves, or a pair of adult slippers or socks.

PLEASE: no cheap acrylic yarn such as Red Heart. Even though Red Heart now comes in all sorts of new types, once knitted or crocheted, they are scratchy. So select yarn that will be soft. It can be acrylic, just not cheapo acrylic such as Red Heart. If you send a pattern for socks, make sure you send yarn that would appropriate for crocheting socks.

Please package mugs carefully so they arrive unbroken.

The edible treat can be a piece of chocolate, a small package of tea biscuits, a Little Debbie snack, a small package of cookies... you get the idea.

Contacting your partner once assignments are made is recommended so that you know what colors they like, and if they are allergic to any natural fibers, what type pattern they might prefer, etc. PLEASE GIVE YOUR SWAP PARTNER A CHOICE IN PATTERNS AND YARNS. For example, don't demand expensive yarn only and just a sock pattern. Be flexible.

Because of problems with non-swappers, nobody with a rating of less than 4.7 will be allowed to sign up for this swap. NO EXCEPTIONS. NEWBIES NEED TO EMAIL ME TO BE ALLOWED TO PLAY.

Due to postage costs for mailing something as heavy as a mug, I am limiting this to the US only. I apologize to my international swap bot friends.

Any questions? Just contact me. Let's have fun!!

I would like to sign up, but I don't want to pay to ship a heavy mug.

Cute idea though! It sounds like fun.

Hello to Joanna, I'm going to send you an email as well but in case you come here I want to let you know that I sent your package a little late (2/27) and per the confirmation number on the usps.com website, it left Minneapolis on 3/1. As of today it still indicates online that it's enroute.

I had anticipated sending you the package from California but I left your mug at home so I had to wait until I returned (I came home on the 26th). I'm so sorry this has taken so long.

I'm going to email you the delivery confirmation number so you can have it for your records. I have a feeling with the snowstorms we've had here in Minnesota it's been delayed more than it would normally have been.

Thanks for your patience! Patty
