Description:

Have you ever participated in a Flat Stanley challenge for your child’s school? If you have not, a quick description is a little boy gets turned into paper and is mailed all over the world, you are asked to send him back to his home (original sender) with a few pictures or post cards and a story about his travels. This swap will be along those lines, but we won’t be sending back to the original sender.

Our dolls like to travel, so we should make sure they have things they need, a journal to write about their travels, souvenirs, passports, their favorite toy to snuggle with at night and at least one outfit all packed into a decorated “travel trunk”, back pack, carry on or duffle bag.

For this swap you will have 1 partner and plenty of time to make your items. Each item that is home made should be of good quality and clean and doll size. Include as much as you like extra so long as you have:

1 journal with a short story about some place your doll has traveled 1 passport that is decorated and/or stamped (if you don’t have a stamp you can substitute that with stickers of the name of the place, printed names or neat hand writing) 1-2 souvenirs from her travels 1 toy to cuddle with 1 outfit of your choice (hand made please) 1 travel trunk, duffle bag, back pack or carry on luggage (does not have to be huge due to shipping but must hold all items well and be packaged for shipping so that it does not get damaged

If you have any questions about things to include or just questions in general, please ask.

I am thinking that an old recipe box would make a great doll sized trunk. A coat of paint and some do-dads would work wonders. And I think everything would fit inside.

Maybe so. I wish I could find the old cardboard pencil boxes that were around when I was a kid, those would be perfect!

What if the doll takes carry on luggage or a backpack? Just thinking of some options.

I found some easy instructions for making carry-on lugguage. I know that's not in your requirements but I thought it was cute.

that's a good idea. the extras can be what ever you wish to create and send. those participating will need to watch for postage. i figure that a 10 ship anything box from the post office should suffice, depending on the size of the "trunk".

So it's okay NOT to make a trunk?? Can it be carry on luggage? What about a big back pack? I think this swap could be a lot of fun. It's very creative.

I changed the description to include duffle bags, carry ons and back packs. I had not thought of those to start with.

I'm in. This sounds like fun and very creative.
