Description:

I collect interesting playing cards for use in all kinds of craft projects. I was hoping that there may be others out there looking to diversify their collections, as I am.

For this swap, you will be sending your partner 10 random playing cards (in an envelope) from at least two different decks. These playing cards can be any suit, as long as they are not the plain "bicycle" (or similar) playing cards. Please do not send any playing cards which you would not enjoy receiving yourself; this means that the cards must be in good to excellent condition (no soiled, torn, clipped, punched or folded/ creased cards).

I will be checking participants profiles and ratings thoroughly before assigning partners; if you are currently showing as late on any swaps I will request that you follow through on those before participating in this swap. Similarly, if you have a 1 rating and have not made an effort to follow through on the swap owing to your partner (especially if they are still an active member of the site), I will likely ask that you do this before participating in any of my swaps.

You must have at least 10 rated type 2 or 3 swaps (flat mail, crafts or packages-- not electronic) to participate in this swap.

I do angel all of my swaps, although I will make every possible effort to ensure that my swaps remain flaker-free.

Helpful information regarding mailing for US swappers: I have weighed playing cards out at 0.065 ounces apeice, and according to usps.com we may ship up to one ounce for the "regular" letter weight, which is $0.49 cents within the USA, and $1.15 overseas. For this reason, I have chosen 10 playing cards as the requirement for this swap, in an effort to keep postage reasonable.

I´ve been wanting to join these swaps many times, but I have one concern... I make altered playing cards, so I only want/ have use for poker-sized cards which are the same size than ATC-cards. The cards can be even those "bicycle" cards, as I use them only for crafting. I have many interesting playing cards to send in return, some of them are poker-sized, some the ordinary size. If my partner can´t send poker-sized cards, that´s okay for me, but I prefer them if possible. So do you think I can join?

Thanks for your question! Am I right in assuming that the difference between poker sized and bridge sized (what most people assume to be "regular" sized playing cards) is just that the bridge cards are a little narrower?

After searching for dimensions online, I see that poker cards are typically 2.5" wide, while bridge cards are 2.25" wide. Up until this point, I believe that the swappers in this swap have been swapping a mixture of both types of cards, as both are technically considered "standard-sized" in North America.

I think that the simplest answer to this question would be that you are welcome to join if you are okay with the idea of possibly receiving both bridge and poker sized cards (or possibly just one or the other) from your partner-- of course, you can make a request to receive only the poker-sized ones in the comment section of the swap, but as this is not stated as a requirement of the swap, it's not guaranteed that you will only receive the poker (2.5" wide) playing cards.

You are very welcome to use this swap idea to host your own swap with these specifications included-- this way you will be guaranteed to receive exactly what you need for your ATC crafting. :)

I have some oddly shaped cards, like circles. Are they allowed? They have very pretty backs.

Thank you so much for the answer arianneroxa. You are quite correct about the card sizes :)! I am joining the swap! And if my partner to be is able to send ONLY poker-sized cards, I´ll be more than happy, but I´m aware that I may be receiving bridge-sized too!

@Pikkis Sounds great! I've learned something new through your question (as I'm sure others have as well), so thank you again. Interestingly, I seem to have more of the narrower 'bridge sized' playing cards in my collection-- I'm wondering if those were more common in times past (as most of my collection is 1940s-1970s vintage)? How curious! Of course, if I am paired with you, it does seem as if I will have enough of a selection to send the "poker sized" cards your way. :)

@Cissybelle It's interesting, as I have received a few requests for an "oddly-shaped" or unique sized playing card swap, and I have even set them up, but no one seems to join! Ah well. I think that the safest thing to do is to send the more traditional rectangular-style cards unless you're certain that your partner would welcome the differently shaped ones. And let it be known for the record that I LOVE round and oddly-shaped cards! If there is any misunderstanding because of this, I am happy to mediate or otherwise "make it right" with the swappers involved. :)
