Amish Quilt Block

This block swap as a monthly series, with a different color theme each month. It is an easy block and everyone has solid color fabric hanging around. Six more months and we will have enough blocks to make a very nice quilt from blocks made by friends. You don’t have to participate every month, it will be fun to have blocks all made by someone else to put together as a quilt.

For this swap, you will make your partner one block. The block will have two SOLID color fabrics (no prints allowed), one always being black and the other will change each month. It will measure 12-1/2" square.

April swap will be Purple and Black. Remember solid colors.

Here is the pattern: Amish Quilt Block Pattern

The following is the list of the months and color themes, in case you want to get started on making your blocks to swap or to catch up from ones missed.

October - Orange (Complete)

November – Yellow (Complete)

December – Red (Complete)

January – Blue (Complete)

February – Pink (Complete)

March – Green (Complete)

April – Purple

May - Peach

June – Gold

July – White

August - Aqua

September – Gray

I hope we get lots to join, this will be fun!

so this is only my second swap for this block. do we do the same block just different color each month? thanks so much. Also, has anyone had problems with the instructions as to the sizes of the cut pieces? mine did not come out the right size until i altered the size of the blocks...thanks.

Yes, same pattern, different color each month

I'm missing this month due to moving and cruise (!) is there anyone who'd like to do a one-on-one swap to make up for missed colors?

As for problems with size--I made my seams slightly less than 1/4" and it works. Measure the distance from your needle to the side of the foot to be sure it's right, too, if you're using that to make your quarter inch allowance.

I would be interested in doing a one- on- one to make up for missing blocks!
