Description:

This is the swap I have been waiting for!!!!

You will send to your partner a minimum of 8 photographs that you have taken (you can send more but 8 is the minimum). You could take these of your garden, your walk to work in a morning, a day out you go on, a walk in your local park etc. Basically, pick up your camera and get snapping!!! Pictures should obviously be of the natural world. They could be of flowers, trees, the beach, wildlife, really anything nature based goes.

These should be new pictures you go out and take for this swap, not ones you already have, but you could include these as extras if you think your partner would like them.

Then, you will carefully mark on the back of each photo with a reference of some kind (1,2,3 or a,b,c, etc.) Then in a note to your partner you will explain what the pictures are of (if it is not obvious) and where you took them. The photos should not be marked in any other way.

Photos should be printed on standard size good quality photo paper (not thin standard paper) If you don’t have access to a good printer yourself, most chemists/drug stores will print them for you. It shouldn’t be too expensive as we are only sending a few.

You will also send your partner a nature related item. This could be something you picked up on your travels – a shell, pebble, flower etc. or if you are not able to send a found item, then a small purchased item would be acceptable. This does not have to be anything expensive – just a small token is fine. Please ensure that if you are sending seeds, pods etc. that your partners country allows this. If in doubt, pm your partner, or send a nature related item instead. We don't want any parcels being confiscated by customs.

When you post the photos, it might be an idea to pop a piece of cardboard in the envelope so that they don’t get creased in the mail.

I am going to make it a fairly long send by time so we all have plenty of time. You can start taking the pictures whenever you are ready.

If this proves to be popular we could run it every season.

Any questions please comment below or PM me.

Yay, I've been waiting for this, too! We are going on a cruise to Hawaii April 3 through April 18, so I will use my cruise photos for this swap. We will stop in Ensenada, Mexico on our way back, too.

I think I will wait for the next one...we are still in winter mode at my house and everything is still dead and covered with dirty snow piles...LOL

@TereDiane1954 I am so jealous! Hawaii is one of the places on my "bucket list" . For now I have to make do with watching Hawaii 5O!

TereDiane1954 03/12/2014 #

@zoe1975 maybe I will get you for a partner:)

Sternenfee 03/19/2014 #

What is standard size? It might be different in each country...

KateKintail 03/20/2014 #

For those with partners in different countries, make sure to not send anything natural that might violate customs regulations (flowers/fruit/seed pods, etc. may or may not be allowed).

Would you consider doing a similar swap like this with just photos?

zoev1975 03/22/2014 #

@Sternenfee standard size according to the various printing websites I checked (international too) is 6x4. So I would say that size or slightly larger, but no smaller.

@KateKintail -thank you for the reminder. I believe Australia in particular is strict on seeds etc. Will add to the swap description.

@susieq11 - I would definitely do a similar swap for just photos. I have a few more photography swaps in mind.

Just wanted to mention that I would also prefer a photograph-only swap in the future. :) My little 2.5 ounce "package" cost me $9.45 to mail yesterday, eee. :D
