Description:

Swapping is tons of fun, but it takes supplies to keep the swaps going. So this swap will be for swapping supplies.

You will have 1 partner. This swap is to share a few fun things that your partner can use to mail out future swaps. This swap shouldn't take more than one first class stamp (maybe a little more) to send out to your partner. Please include your user name along with a little note and at least 3 of the following:

-3 handmade envelopes or they can be store bought but pretty them up a bit with stickers or washi

-Washi Tape Samples (4 - 12" samples)

-3 First Class Stamps

-5 Address Labels with your Partners Address Info

-5 Blank Mailing Labels

-10 Stickers

This is sender's choice, but please take a look at your partner's profile and try to provide them with items they will like and use.

This swap is newbie friendly (we all have to start someplace), but please take this seriously and fulfill your commitment. Also, let's all be really open to what we receive and as long as you receive 3 of the items listed above please rate a 5.

How would you send the washi tape samples? Forgive me for what may seem like a silly question but I'm new here and I'd LOVE to send some of the really neat tapes I've got but I'm not sure what medium to attach it to to send it...

MissWhimsy 01/11/2014 #

you can put strips of washi tape on wax paper or I sometimes use the empty plastic sheets that stickers come on, but wax paper is best I think. Welcome to swapbot, Im new to! :)

Welcome, ladies! I've done a ton of Washi tape swaps and what works best for me is wrapping it around a plastic coated playing card. You can pick up a deck that has 50+ plus cards for cheap to use. I've also received tape wrapped around the plastic that stickers were once on, hard plastic from packaging that's been cut down, some wrap around laminated sheets they've made, etc. Lots of good ways to go about it! Thanks!

thanks for the tips!! Now would cute deco tapes be ok as well or does it have to be washi tapes?

fabkimberly 01/13/2014 #

@dezcollins I wouldn't be opposed to deco tape, however, I don't have any knowledge of how well it travels as a sample and being used after that. I know washi tapes works really well for this and recipients are able to utilize the samples they receive. Have you done this with deco tape before?

chelle523 01/13/2014 #

@DezCollins - I am so glad you asked that. I've wondered that for forever, and always forget to ask someone! Lol

DezCollins 01/13/2014 #

No I've never sent deco tape but I would imagine it would travel as well as washi tape. I know it can be be picked up and re-placed like regular scotch tape. Also I'm sure if I got a partner who didn't like kawaii that I can find a sample that doesn't necessarily have the 'super cute' factor like most kawaii. @chelle523 yw! I would love to send some of my tapes but it seriously had me scratching my head lol

@DezCollins and @fabkimberly I haven't sent deco tape via the mail, but I did receive. The tape looked perfectly fine on laminated paper, but when I peeled it off, the decoraton part went with it. It may have just been cheap deco tape, but who knows... This is the reason why I won't send deco tape. I only send masking tape and washi...I don't want to take the chance...

fabkimberly 01/14/2014 #

@burntbao - great feedback. Thanks! I think with that and since washi is so readily available (plus just one of 6 options of what to send) we will just keep it as washi tape for this swap.

I've sent deco tape plenty of times! I actually don't own any washi tape because I don't like it lol. What I do is buy these hard plastic "business cards" off Amazon - I believe it's $16 for 100 of them - and I wrap the tapes around those. You can fit 4-5 tapes on one card and people always ask me where I get the cards! Just a suggestion and they have travelled marvelously every time! In fact I have to send one to a winner of my listia auction that just ended! So I use them a lot. Hope this helps!

would love to join this one, but I don't have any of the supplies listed. I really need to expand my supplies. :)

DezCollins 01/24/2014 #

I've got some really cute types of both so I'll stick to washi tape samples. @burntbao I know what you mean, I've been peeling deco tape off the actual roll & had the decoration start to peel off :/ I love a bargain but not when it's so flipping cheap you can't use it for it's intended purpose!! Lol

@littlestar714 my auction?! lol
