Cover a Postcard in Postage Stamps, R3

Fitting 6 postage stamps on address side of a postcard is clever & still have room for address, name of swap, sender's address. Though it helps to have a large postcard with enough space to fit all the stamps, with some stamps being small.

The US rate hike takes effect on January 26.

@Whippet I actually managed to fit 11 stamps (along with return address label) onto my standard-sized postcard for round two. :)

HELP.....for the U.S postage for U.S....Im wanting a little extra claraification.....are we talking 6 stamps using current denominations? If we are....arent we just sending a bunch of current 2', 3's, 5's, 10's etc back and forth to each other? THANKS!

@kittyhahahotbot Thanks so much for your question. :) I've seen a few different ways of accomplishing this with us-to-us based partners. One swapper actually pasted a selection of used international stamps to the postcard in addition to a few smaller denomination regular US stamps (to total the $0.33 or $0.34 postage which is required for a standard-sized postcard).

In my case, I have quite a few vintage unused penny and two cent stamps in my collection, so I've been using those for these swaps (as unused postage never expires and is pretty easy to find on eBay or in some vintage shops).

OK gotcha. Thats what I thought too. I have a inventive different way. You and I should do a private just so I can show off my cleaverness. Keep in mind that I pull out my cleaver card just in case I only have the mundane usual postage on hand. let me knowwwww:)))))))))))

I just received a great question from a swap bot friend this morning, and thought that I would post my response here, in hopes that it might help others who also might have a few questions:

"Hi! Thanks for your question; I may need to clarify this swap just a little bit. The idea for this swap is to use as many "real" and unused stamps as you can for postage-- for example, if the rate was $1.15 to send a postcard from the US to Germany, I might choose four 10 cent stamps, two 15 cent, one 25 cent and four 5 cent stamps to make up this $1.15 rate. That's 11 stamps in total, which would probably cover a good portion of the postcard in postage stamps. :)

Alternatively, for US to US swaps (which only cost 33 or 34 cents, with the rate increase), I might use two fifteen cent stamps and one four cent-- which would only be three stamps. Because I would like to "cover" the postcard, I might then go into my used stamp collection and choose some interesting cancelled stamps that I think my partner might like, and I would stick those on the backside of the postcard as well.

My mother just sent me my birthday early: A whole mess of stamps, none higher denomination than 20 cents! I am so ready to use them

It will be odd if we get each other as partners @smadronia but if we do then we can turn around and use them in art.

yes @smadronia but they will be cancelled and I can use them for art with out feeling guilty. I feel odd using unused stamps for art things like I didnt get all the use out of them.
