Description:

We all need encouragement from time to time -- positive affirmations, reminders that we're loved, affirming words, encouragement to keep going. what better way to start the year than to swap some!!

Please be as creative as possible. Don't just scribble out phrases on paper ... not that a few of those aren't okay. But the more creative the better (minimum of 3 of each creative method). Consider things like small laminated cards for a purse, mini letters in an envelope, postcards, a printed phrase affixed to a silk flower or leaf, fridge magnets, decorated quotes in a card frame that can be pinned to a workboard, those printed nail files, a phrase printed on a folded tent card that can stand on the kitchen bench, an embroidered phrase or saying, inspirational words made into a notecard that can be given away, bookmarks, a card from a motivational set of cards that you can bear to part with.

Hearts for creativity and range of encouragement and hope included in the package. The container you choose is up to you. Try to decorate it or use one that's already decorative. Try experimenting with media, it never hurts! Go for at least 12 encouragements, affirmations, you're-worth-it's! But as always, the more the merrier.

Once you receive your package, try paying a few of them forward by leaving them in unexpected places like library books or bathroom stalls! Leave them for yourself in places where you might need them as well, like your desk or your creative space for those blocked times. Remember, this swap is about encouragement, hope, and promoting inner strength when times get challenging.

Usual swap rules apply. Also, please read your partners profiles before including encouragement of a religious nature. For people who aren't religious and are having a day where they feel discouraged, pulling a "god loves you" note out of their package might emphasize a feeling of disconnection or alienation. And that's pretty much the opposite of what we're going for here. As it isn't profile specific (apart from the above), you can start creating now.

Really like this idea for a swap :)

Thanks Phimu4ever. I run it every year now.

Really love this idea as I was going to do one for the coming year. Would just like to check: When you say "minimum of 3 of each creative method", what creative methods are compulsory?

Net3811 12/26/2013 #

Mag, there's no compulsory method. I just don't want people receiving a swap with a majority of one particular kind of item. ie, the aim is not to open your container and find 12 fridge magnets and a couple of printed phrases. There needs to be a variety and range of creative methods so as to delight your partner. I picked 3 as the maximum as I thought that was a reasonable number.

I am not a strict swap-host, you don't have to have a perfect rating; but I am a safe one. I have banned a couple of people where their poor ratings indicated they did not look after their partners or might not send a quality swap.

hey all you watchers, I've been watching too but this sounds kind of great to me. I just lost my job and could really use some encouragement!
