Description:

A Happiness Jar is where you:

1) Repurpose an empty glass jar with a lid

2) During the entire year, add a note to the jar any time something good happens that makes you happy

3) On New Year's Eve, empty your jar and read how amazing your life was in 2014!

I have been doing the "Happiness Jar Project" for two years now and will start a new one for 2014. I am finding that it is a great way to cement the good memories into my brain by making an effort to actually write them down. It really helps me stay more in the present moment and notice more good things, because now I am in the habit of saying, "I'm going to put that in my happy jar!" whenever something makes me happy.

Here is a link to a Pinterest board with all kinds of jars.

For this swap, make your partner a Happiness Jar starter kit that includes:

  • A round, decorated label for the jar lid with a phrase that contains the word "Happy", or "Happiness" someplace on the label. Make this label approximately 3" (7.62 cm) in diameter. I figure this is a nice size for the lid on a pickle jar, or large sized peanut butter jar, etc. Receiver can decide if they want to put it on the lid or on the side of the jar. The label can be hand drawn, stamped, computer printed, collaged -- however you want to decorate it. If you stamp it, make sure it is a nice crisp and clear stamping. If you print it, make sure you use a high resolution of 300 dpi so it looks crisp and not blurry. Receiver will be responsible for adhering it, so sender you do not have to add the adhesive.

  • A variety of 12 journaling tags or pretty pieces of smallish note pad paper. These can be store bought or handmade or printed. Don't just send plain pieces of paper or all one design though. They should have some kind of picture or pattern/decoration and a place to write. Lined or unlined, sender's choice.

That's it! Simple. I wanted to keep this flat to keep postage down. You are NOT sending the jar in this swap. :o)

Please no recent 1's or unexplained 3's etc.

I'm so glad you all joined! I was just going through my jar from last year and it is really great to remember the moments.
