Carpe Librum's Reading Challenge #1

If you are on GoodReads, then you know there are TONS of challenges out there, designed to help you get reading and help you choose your next read. I'm going to have a series of challenges to get you reading and focused on certain books to read.

This challenge is called a "spell it out". If you haven't seen the challenge before, it's where you spell out a word or phrase with the books you read, using the title OR the author's first OR last name. This makes you choose books with this in mind, to fulfill the challenge.

For our first challenge, we will be spelling out the word Swap.

To do this, choose books that the title starts with the letter (The, A, An do not count) or whose author's first or last name stars with that letter. For example, you could use ~

  • Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
  • W is for Wasted by Sue Grafton
  • Anne Rice ~ Interview with a Vampire
  • Patterson, James ~ Gone

Only books completed (you could have started them before but not finished them) on/after today (10/6) accepted.

After you read your book, write to you partner about ALL the books you have read and please write at least FOUR full size pages (8.5x10 or A4), by hand, or 2 FULL pages (no big spacing, fonts or margins) if typed. Here are some questions that you can answer about the book to help you tell about it, please answer at least 4 (half) of the questions per book ~

  • What was the book about?
  • Did you like it, or dislike it?
  • What was your favorite part or character, what was your least favorite?
  • Have you read other books by the author, would you read more books by the author because of this book?
  • Were there situations or characters that you identified with, and how?
  • If you could change something about the book, what would it be and how would you change it?
  • Did you like the book from the beginning or did it take a while for you to get into it?
  • Would you ask the author a question if you could? What question would you ask?

Bonus ~ Feel like doing a little extra? Spell Out Swap-Bot instead! :) NOT required, just for fun.

Yay! :) I've had a Read-a-Thon to do at GoodReads and picked some books to read for this, so I'm starting my last (7th) one tonight.

On no, that's not right, I have two left. I forgot about that, because I planned the one but it's not out yet. :)
