Nail polish can be sent by ground services only. Nail polish shipping just saying it's not leagal to ship it by air.

eimat 09/11/2013 #

Is this for unopened, new nail polish only? Just asking as I have a shoebox full of nail polishes that I've only used once or 2x each.

tmarlo 09/12/2013 #

@eimat please new only for your partner.

@djcamp04 When I travel and have to use the plane. Customs will let me put the liquid in a bag ziploc. I thought shipping nail polish can deliver the same.

I would suggest, at least to those in the United States, to not join this swap or check with your local post office for advice. Shipping nail polish falls under the liquid and hazardous materials for them, and must be sent by ground methods only. I have sent lots of nail polish from e-bay, but needed to specify that it could travel only by ground.

Okay, thank you for all comment. @MrsDoubleA we must send nail polish by ground. Hope all people in watching can join. Again, thank you very much.

Today I got an envelope from someone in USA. She send an envelope for Nail Polish #1 swap. She use Ziploc bag, wrap with bubble sheet and send via air mail. It very fast. - So I think, we can send Nail polish via air mail Image : http://goo.gl/PCAOyK

That someone did send nail polish by air does NOT make it legal.

Why is this swap in the "art" category?

tmarlo 10/ 6/2013 #

I think when I paint on my nail, it's art. However, I'll edit.

Sending a single bottle or two of nail polish by air is perfectly fine. I have brought nail polish in my carry ons on the plane, into the States, and the security people definitely knew it was there. It's only over 16 ounces that nail polish needs to be sent as a hazardous material. At least that's the rules in Canada. I just got four bottles from the last swap that were packed with bubble wrap and bagged up and labeled clearly as 'nail polish' from out of the country, and they were unopened and arrived in perfect condition. And both people received my nail polish from the last swap too.

The worst that can happen is the post office would refuse to send your package by air and make you send it by ground/boat and it'll take twice as long to arrive. If you're worried, don't join. :)

The rule in the US is that if it is mailed, nail polish is a hazardous material. So that person may have sent it to you, but that just means that the illegal action they committed wasn't caught. I have also traveled with it in my carry-on, since it follows the TSA's "less than 3 ounces" rule, and fit in my single quart bag.

I'm just worried that others will be ignorant of this, and potentially be caught and fined, which is the worst that can happen in the US.

I am from Thailand. I think I can send out nail polish via air mail so in this swap I will send via air mail.
