Last day to signup/drop:August 12, 2013
Date items must be sent by:August 17, 2013
Number of swap partners:5
Description:

We each make one zine page. We copy our page, and send it to all our partners. Once the swap is complete, you can bind up all your pages, design a cover, and hey presto - you've got a community zine!

This month's theme: self care

Imagine you're having a terrible day. You open up this zine - what do you want to see? Comfort food. Comfort craft. Stopping a panic attack. Alternatives to self harm. Lists of pick-me-ups. Inspirational quotes. Inspirational people. One thing you can do to make yourself feel better, in detail. Lists of items for a self-care/sad-day box. Journal prompts. And so on.

You can make two different pages, or a double page spread, just so long as they fit on an A4 sheet folded in half. Your page can be wordy or arty or a mix of the two. It can even be mixed media/3D/flaps and tags if that's your style. (If you have a scanner/camera, please share your pages and post to the comments, so we can also print out your pages. If you get inspired, feel free to send more than one A4 sheet, or make your sheet double-sided.) Make sure you write your name on your pages so you get credit!

Swap rules: I will consider anyone with a rating above 4.3, but will check profiles before assigning partners and ban anyone who looks flakey. Flakey: lots of drama, recent 1s and 3s, overdue swaps, not logged in for ages etc.

One week to sign up + one week to post. Please communicate with your partner if you are going to be late, and be kind if your partner is having difficulties.

Angels Because each person has many partners, if one person flakes, many people will be affected. So please volunteer in the comments if you would be willing to angel; and let me know if you have not recieved your pages so I can sort things.

More partners please! What if 6 pages isn't enough for you? At the end of the swap, I will email everyone and ask if they want a second round, where they send their same sheet to new people. If there is interest, I will help to arrange private swaps between people who have not had each other's sheets yet.

Any comments or questions? Either comments or message me :)

Willing to Angel! =D This is a wonderful idea for a zine!

So interested in joining, but 4.3 could allow anyone with a past History of 1 and 3 ratings.

Skeffiboo - thank you! Hopefully angels won't be needed, but you never know. Can't wait to have the zine all finished and on my bookshelf :)

Soyprincesa - I will be individually checking profiles, and this is a job I take very seriously. People with recent flakes, out-standing swaps, bad drama, or lots of dodgy behaviour will be banned.

Banning people below a certain extremely high rating is unsatisfying to me as a swap coordinator. I would rather specify a rather low rating - 4.3 - as a minimum, and then use my own judgement in looking at profiles. Anyone I would not want to swap with myself, I will bar at that point.

This is especially true of a swap themed around "self-care" - some people drawn to the swap may be those going through illness and bad times, and have a lower rating due to those difficulties. I want those people to be able to participate.

We are sending our partners one sheet of paper - not a big responsibility like a quilt or a full friendship book, where reliability is crucial. I have already said I am willing to angel, so if anyone I allow in flakes, their partners will still recieve their swap.

It's up to you whether you're comfortable with this standard or not.
