$2 flat swap

So is it senders choice, yet try to find things by reading profiles, or is it profile based?

A first class mail large envelope that weighs 7 ounces would cost $2.12 to mail. So when the host writes "your package should at least be $2 in shipping costs," does she mean the envelope must weigh a minimum of 7 ounces? Or can a swapper add to the shipping cost with delivery confirmation (85 cents) or by putting in something thick that makes the swap a package instead of an envelope? Doing either of these things would mean sending a much lighter swap that still costs at least $2 to mail.

Just adding something rigid to the envelope makes it a "parcel" rather than an envelope and increases the shipping cost dramatically. So should there be a weight limit rather than a shipping cost limit?

@piano The envelope should weigh a minimum of 7 ounces, it doesn't include the delivery confirmation if it's put on there. There isn't a shipping cost limit, it should just be at least $2, it's up to the sender if he or she would like to add something heavier. The minimum is $2.

Well I will get it stuffed now, then just label it and send it after reading some profile and see if I have more goodies to add.

LOLOLOL, so I started stuffing the envelope and it was full! A business size envelope full! I weighed it and it was no more than 3 ounces.... so I made an envelope for this swap. Now if that doesn't hold 7 ounces, I will have to recycle one of the bigger, ones.

I would like to join. I am signed up for a few others as well. Why can't we sign up just because we are new to this stuff?

@rainymorning too many newbies get over enthusiastic and signup for big swaps, then when it comes time to send, they either can't afford it, or no longer want to participate. So they don't send. That is called flaking. Unfortunately, there are also people who sign up for swaps just to receive lovely (and sometimes expensive) packages, with no intention of sending anything themselves. So, until one has done smaller swaps and got good ratings, one is often not allowed in bigger swaps.

By the way, I notice your profile doesn't really say what things you really like, what things not to send, favourite colours, what pets you have, etc. it might help if you fill it out a bit more.
