Character Profile

To aid in my writing, I create character profiles. I once read about this technique in a writer's magazine and I thought it was really neat so I tried it and it has helped me and has ended up being great reference material. So here is how it works... You create a profile for a character in the novel or short story you are writing. Give a general description of physical features such as height, weight, hair color, scars, etc. Add a photo or a sketch of someone who resembles this character (I usually use celebrities lol) Write a description of non physical characteristics like their job, the car they drive, likes, dislikes, quirks, clothing preferences etc. Lastly write a letter to either another character in your story in the voice of the described character OR write it to your partner in their voice. Minimum is one character. However, you can certainly send more than one. You can find great character worksheets online or create your own.
