2nd Annual Handmade Angel Ragdoll swap Edit 10/17 Added photo of last years dolls. These are so cute!! I didn't save a photo of the one I sent.

Last years doll is a treasured addition to my decor and I would love to do this again.

This swap is for those creative geniuses out there who love rag dolls. Here are the requirements:

1 soft bodied, rag doll to 1 partner

Body must be hand made of fabric, knit or fine crochet using sock or lace weight yarns/fibers.

Must be 100% handmade/sewn, sewing machines are ok but no pre-stuffed bodies.

The doll must have angel qualities - subject to creator interpretation. Size between 6" and 24".

This swap encourages reusing materials, recycling and repurposing.

This is senders choice and should have at least one element that relates to your partners profile.

Put it on watch for now but I hope to be back.

Can we use muslin fabric, I'm new at making ragdolls from scratch and that's what I use, is that ok?

gypsyinthecastle 09/27/2012 #

Muslim is fine!! I have used it before on several dolls and my partner last year also used it. She also got creative with some really pretty printed fabric. I'll try to post a photo this week.

We have 48 watchers and 9 signed up - this should be a great swap. I will angel if necessary.

@artsymimi thank you for sharing your photo. I use yarn hair on many of my dolls also. Cute.

I've never made a doll using sock yarn. Would be a lot of crochet, for sure! Usually, I make my dolls with 100% cotton worsted weight yarn. Isn't that standard, pretty much? Or are these to be tiny dolls? I think I'm confused.

I've never made one with worsted weight yarns....this isn't an amigurami, which look rather rough to me so I'm having trouble picturing one. Do you have a photo? The intent is that the final creation be treasured by the receiver, finer yarns would tend to satisfy that better. What are your ideas?

Size between 6" and 24" - if you can do that with worsted weight and your partner would like it, go ahead!

Posted a photo of the dolls I received last year. The one I made was knit green sock yarn. He had legs, arms, button eyes and berlap wings. He was dressed in bib overalls with frogs on it. I wish I had a photo the share.

The photo doesn't do my partners work justice both are entirely unique and lovely.

I have one dispute in progress. Please let me know if you do not receive your swap and if your partner isn't responding.
