Try Origami - Edited

Do you do origami? If so, let's swap! Do you want to TRY origami? Great! Let's Swap! Here's a swap for new and experienced origami folders, with the purpose of encouraging more folks to give it a try. There are SO MANY video tutorials out there! And most libraries have at least a few origami books, if not in the adult collection, at least in the kid's collection. And that's fine! Origami paper is inexpensive and available at most arts and crafts stores. Even better, you can fold almost any paper that's thin and crisp. (I don't recommend construction paper for origami, as it's the opposite of thin and crisp. You can use scrapbook paper, but cardstock will be a challenge.)

For this swap, you will have one partner, and you will send him/her one origami model. Fold at the best of your ability, and send a project that looks nice and neat. If you're new to origami, I can assure you that your first project probably won't be nice and neat. Practice a few times on cheap paper before you try a model out of any special paper you want to use for your partner.

Include the name of the designer if you know it, and the source (book title or website) for instructions, in case your partner wants to make one, too. If you don't know either, that's OK, but tell you partner how you learned the model.

There are MANY MANY MANY beginner models out there! Try googling "simple origami instructions" or "beginner origami." Do a search or two on You Tube, where there are plenty of tutorials for beginners. You're sure to find something you like that you can learn to do. If you're brand new to origami, I recommend a book that explains origami symbols, or a video tutorial. You need to know the symbols to fold from a diagram.

If you're an experienced folder, just make one of your favorites for your partner.

This really isn't as hard as it sounds. Raid the children's section of your local library for beginner books if you need to. I hope you enjoy trying a new art form!
