Art! Art! Art! Postcards
Swap Coordinator:Ystarr (contact)
Swap categories: Themed  Art  Postcards
Number of people in swap:35
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:February 21, 2008
Date items must be sent by:March 6, 2008
Number of swap partners:3
Description:

This swap is for purchased postcards that feature images of artwork.

While I enjoy postcards of tourist locales, one of my true interests is art appreciation. I collect postcards of images of paintings, sculptures and other media from museums and artists all around the world and would love to meet other like-minded swappers.

These types of postcards should be readily available in museums and galleries.

You will be sending a total of three (3) postcards, and you will send each partner (1) postcard.

There is no requirement of time period, art history movement or fame/visibility of artist. In your note to your swap partner, feel free to add a description of why you enjoy the particular image (or artist of the image) you are sending.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks so much!

The small print: (i) this is an INTERNATIONAL swap; (ii) newbies more than welcome, as long as you contact me via swap-bot form first and have a reasonably well-filled out profile; (iii) all others, please have a rating of at least 4.8.

If you have concerns with the requirements, please touch base with me and I am sure we can work something out.

Hello, Can I send some of my art images? Handmade ones that I created on photoshop graphics. Great hearing from you. Ciao, S

What a fantastic idea for a swap! Now I get to spend a morning in my city Art Gallery browsing for postcards.... cool!!

Solarts -- thanks for joining and hope all is well! For purposes of this swap, I've set the guidelines for "purchased postcards" only. Hope that's ok.

Thank you to everyone who's signed up thus far.

9000Elves -- thanks for the comment! Happy hunting.

No problemo. Stephanie

May we add art cards also or just "postcards?" I have tons of art cards but no postcards.

Ystarr 02/16/2008 #

Solarts -- I am not sure what you mean by "artcards" (forgive me). The subject of the swap is for postcards (or flat cards that can be sent in the mail in "weathered" form) with images of artwork on the front. This is not a swap for ATCs, notecards or handmade images. Let me know if this is still unclear or if I didn't answer your question. Thanks again!

I was referring to note cards that have art images on the front of them. You answered my question. I do understand now that you ONLY want postcards no, note cards.
Sometimes I only send the front portion of the note card instead of the whole note card. So it would look like a postcard with the art design on the front. No, problem I can pick up some art postcards. I just thought I would ask. Have a great weekend. Ciao,

Count me in...Youngstown OH is proud home to one of the top American art galleries in the United States. Lots of goodies in their gift shop that will be great.

Solarts -- thanks again for your messages, glad I was (somewhat?) clear in my comments.

heavendevon -- welcome to the swap.

Everyone -- thanks again for joining and hope this will provide everyone an opportunity to go see some good art in your neighborhood, while you're picking up your postcards!

I found some great postcards with art images at Borders book store. They are not too expensive, and also at a second hand book shop called bookman's. Looking forward to this swap!

What fun, hard to pick just which ones to send as I wanted to keep them all. Reminds me of my Art Classes years ago. Mine are on the way.

I have to say, what a terrific swap this has been. I had such fun browsing for cards (I really hope my people like them). I took my best friend with me and we had a devonshire tea (a pot of tea with scones, jam and cream) and then spent ages wandering around the gallery, but even longer choosing postcards. Let's all give a round of applause to the co-ordinator, for thinking of this one, it really was fun! Cheers Kim

Thanks so much for your kind words, 9ThouElves -- and your devonshire tea and gallery cruising outing certainly sounds divine.
