This has been on my swap wish list for awhile, so here goes.... Alter one shoe in any theme to create a work of art for display. You can use any type of shoe except flip-flops or white tennis shoes. Thrift stores are a good place to find a pair of shoes for altering...funky platforms, high-heels, kids' shoes, etc....just make sure they are clean with no dirty smell. FUN STUFF: Alter one shoe in any theme, sender's choice. The send deadline is pretty far off, so you can start crafting now. NOT SO FUN STUFF: Send something you would love to receive. Using fabric puffy paint or gluing some stickers is NOT altering. If you're stuck for an idea, just google images of altered art shoes to get some great ideas:) Send timely and rate fairly.

Does it have to still resemble a shoe when I'm done? I have upcycled shoes before-- I tend to turn them into something different entirely :x Otherwise I have another idea that'll work :)

hmmm, not quite sure what you mean...do you de-construct the shoe and just use parts? For purposes of this swap, the finished product should resemble a shoe.

So I told my daughter (13) about this swap and she offered me her Converse styled Airwalk sneakers which have seen better days. They have graffiti all over. Are they too close to white sneakers or will they work? For what it's worth I have some ideas for making them awesome. Also, Rachel would love to do the second shoe herself so she can join me in the swap. Anyone opposed to getting an extra shoe?

@Amyzgarden ..the shoes you described would absolutely work. What I meant is to NOT take a pair of white tennis shoes of dollar store flip flops and embellish them w/stickers, puffy paint. As long as Rachel's shoes are clean and you can turn them into a work of art...go for it!

Look at my flickr for a squirrely shoe. I did one as an ornie one time but haven't got the photo.

Sorry will have to wait and see what my schedule brings before I commit to this swap.
