Description:

Using the paper mosaic technique from Tim's 12 Month's of Tags March tag example create one altered Rolodex card. These will be the 2.25" x 4" size Rolodex cards.

You can follow Tim's design, or put your own personal creative spin on it and enjoy the creative process. Feel free to substitute supplies that you already have if you don't own the exact ones he uses.

The top of the card does not necessarily have to be straight, it can be shaped, have stuff sticking off the top edge, etc., as long as it doesn't seem like it would impede the movement of a rotary file like some folks have. I'd say up to 2.75" is still safe height for card.

Lightly decorate the back, so its not just plain card showing, and sign your name. If everyone could put a comment on your profile as to which type of file you own, flat or rotary, then your partner can know to sign the back in the correct orientation. You don't have to wait for partners to be assigned to work on the front.

You don't have to have real Rolodex cards, you can make it out of sturdy cardstock and punch/cut your notches. If using real paper rolodex cards, make it sturdy by gluing several together as the base.

Cool... I just checked my rolo cards and found they are the correct size! This will be my very first altered rolo so I'm excited to try something new.

As for my rolo holder... I am getting one from my mom, but I don't know what it looks like and I honestly don't care how my partner signs it... whatever is fine with me!

Would love to join swap but do not have the cement antiquities yet. Could I use my distress powder instead??

@ljustme YES! Feel free to substitute any supply that you don't have with other things. That is great to use what you have, you don't have to buy anything new for these swaps, unless you want to.

I have to laugh at myself, because last night I sat down and read through the mosaic tutorial more closely, and I don't own ANY of the things he used, HAHA! I had to substitute everything, except for I found that I have some pre-cut grungeboard shapes that came in a pack. I don't even own any TH paper, except for a few sheets of the holiday theme. I used repositionable glue for the adhesive, Basic Grey brand paper (its grungy) for the "tile" and actual Washington State beach sand for the grout. It turned out great IMHO.

I also tried a version using a stencil I had traced onto a piece of cardstock that I covered in some tacky double stick tape (turns out I don't own any plain grungeboard either), cut it out, and used Distress embossing powder for the "grout". I have only red and green color powders, but I think it looks cool and is a unique look.

Great - count me in!

I meant to say I used "card board", not "card stock", in my comment above (so it is thick like grungeboard).

Sorry I've dropped from the swap as I've just had a look at his tag for this month and I hate it! :-O I might be stung up for saying so, but I just don't like the mosaic thing at all.

I understand completely, I didn't make a swap for the Feb tag cuz I hated that one!
