Description:

My niece is serving in the Peace Corps in Namibia, Africa by teaching young learners. In February she will be explaining to her learners what Valentine's Day is. I thought it would be cool for her to share some valentines with her learners.

This is a 2 part swap: Part 1: You will send my niece and her Namibian learners one valentine. Mail takes 3-4 weeks to Namibia - so try to get them sent early. I will message you witht her address soon after you sign up. I will send every participant who sends a card to Namibia a postcard about my niece and her experiences there. You will not receive a rating for this card as I have no way of knowing when your card is received. I will watch the participants list and send out the postcards just after the swap end date.

Part 2: You will send your Swapbot partner a valentine. This partner will rate you for the swap.

I am making it International because most of the other Valentine's Day card swaps I see are for USA only. I imagine they celebrate it in other countries, too and if they don't - maybe we can start a new tradition!

Valentines can be handmade or store bought. A little message inside is always nice!

Leave me a message here with any questions!

Edited to add a few more days!

How many "learners" does your niece have?

jj9jj 12/31/2011 #

There are 500 or so in the school - but it is K-9 (I think) and she will more than likely only be teaching 8th & 9th graders - so I don't know how many that will be. She hasn't officially started teaching yet because her learners are on vacation for December. There are 12 kids on her 'homestead' where she lives, though, if that helps.

Uhm.. Why would you have no way of knowing if our cards arive? You have contact with your niece, she can tell you the usernames we write on the card..

I actually could - but I only have sporadic contact with my niece since she doesn't have internet access where she 'lives'. She has to travel over an hour to get to the nearest town where there is an Internet Cafe and the Post Office and therefore doesn't get there that often. I hate to ask her to use the little online time she has to give me a detailed list of who sent her cards, etc. so I am counting on people following through. It's hard for me to imagine being that 'unplugged'!
