Description:

A few weeks ago I attended a Zentangle class. We all did a very basic beginner's zentangle along with the instructor. This was fun, but the magic came when we all put our tiles together in a big block afterwards. Because we'd used the same patterns, the whole came together in such a wonderful way.

I was thinking that a similar monthly challenge would work well here, and after each swap, people would have 4 tiles to mount together. I'm pretty sure that will look beautiful!

So this is it: 4 tiles, 4 partners, one tile to each partner. Use as many patterns as you want in your tangle, but be sure to include these three: BALES, BATEEK, and AHH. AHH is pictured above, and the others are listed alphabetically at TanglePatterns.com. Also, color is allowed, and please make your tile a sturdy 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" -- the usual zentangle dimensions.

Happy tangling!

If anyone is having trouble starting, you might want to use one of The Diva's challenges for your tiles. Here's her link: http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/p/weekly-challenges.html

I did the first tile for this challenge, and think that I'll turn it into a series, progressing from a nearly-the-same string each time, because I can see how I want to change it .....

Are we to leave a small border around each one or should we draw all the way to the edge?

sagesparrow 10/13/2011 #

It is up to the individual artist: border or not it's your choice. :)
